Potassium Acetate Deicer – Airport & Road Snow Melting Solution for Safe Winter Operations

Shanxi Zhaoyi Chemical Co., Ltd. has been making chemicals on its own since 1988. That is more than 35 years in the business. The plant sits on 27,000 ㎡, and it turns out a steady 150,000 tons every year. Airports and city winter road crews buy their Potassium Acetate Deicer from us. No chloride goes into the formula. The freezing point can drop as low as -60°C. Metal parts stay free of rust. Concrete does not crack apart the way it does with older deicers. SAE AMS 1435 aviation rules are met by this product too. It breaks down in nature. Ice and snow get cleared safely by airports and municipal transport departments, with less harm to their gear and to the land around them.

about Shanxi Zhaoyi Chemical Co., Ltd.

Key Features & Benefits

Every winter, three big headaches show up on roads and bridges. Our product takes all of them on. Equipment rusts. Pollution builds up. Plenty of products quit working once it gets cold. None of that happens here. For the people who use it, costs go down and the work keeps moving without slowdowns.

Corrosion-Free Performance: Deicers made with sodium chloride leave chloride behind. There is none of it in this mix. Aircraft aluminum landing gear stays protected. So do magnesium alloy parts and steel-reinforced bridge decks. That cover holds up over time, so structures do not age early and equipment does not get damaged.

Environmental Compliance: The acetate base breaks down on its own in nature. BOD released by the product stays very low. Urea deicers bring on water eutrophication and harm to ecosystems. None of that happens here. It also satisfies the main environmental rules used around the world.

Extended Temperature Range: Even at -60°C (-76°F), the deicing job stays steady and keeps working. Equipment and infrastructure carry on as usual in severe cold. At those temperatures, rock salt and other old-style deicers stop working altogether.

Rapid Ice Penetration: Moisture gets taken in by the product very easily. Because of that, the bond between the ice layers and the pavement weakens and breaks apart fast. Machine crews clearing snow get 40% more done. Labor costs fall. Roads open sooner.

How It Works

This deicer is built for professional use. Its method comes down to colligative property adjustment. Melting ice and keeping ice from forming both work that way. Spread the product evenly over pavement or facility surfaces. The acetate ions in it go to work fast. They split apart the hydrogen bond structure that pins ice crystals to the ground. Once that link is gone, the ice layer has nothing to grip.

Potassium ions are hygroscopic, so they pull moisture straight out of the air nearby. A brine layer forms, and it is very concentrated. Heat comes off during dissolving too. That warmth raises the temperature at the spot, so melting speeds up even more. Any water left on the surface also gets a lower freezing point, and it stays that way.

Chloride deicers become brittle mixtures, and they harm base materials. Acetate ingredients do not. Their fluid viscosity stays steady even when temperatures shift. Under the bottom of the ice layer, the liquid keeps working its way in. Mechanical equipment can then clear ice and snow fast. Concrete and metal substrates come through it with no damage at all.

Applications

Aviation Infrastructure: Every day, airports use it for anti-icing and deicing on runways, taxiways and aprons. Surfaces do not corrode with this formula, which means expensive aircraft equipment stays safe. Pavement friction coefficient also stays steady. Operations then remain within FAA aviation safety standards.

Highway & Bridge Systems: For winter upkeep of city concrete bridges and elevated roads, cities choose it. Steel bars get eaten by chloride deicers, and concrete starts to peel. This product does not do that. Each year, that avoids huge infrastructure repair and maintenance costs.

Industrial Facilities: Around precision equipment in chemical plants, refineries and other industrial settings, it is a good fit for anti-icing work. Environmental toxicity is low. This means you can apply it near rainwater and sewage systems. Complex closed containment measures are not needed.

Parking Structures: Multi-story parking lots take a beating, so upkeep matters here. This deicer fits that job well. Concrete spalling and aging slow down by a lot. Next to plain rock salt, a structure lasts 15-20 years longer.

Packaging Options

Our packaging comes in several types. They stay flexible enough to fit projects of any size and any shipping requirement:

200L Plastic Drums: Light to move around and simple to keep in storage. They suit small municipal public works and emergency deicing jobs.

1000L IBC Totes: Standard forklift-operated packaging, widely applicable to daily ground operation and maintenance of large airports.

ISO Tanks: Bulk packaging that keeps the cost per unit low. Highway maintenance crews who buy in large volumes over the long term will find them the best option.

Bulk Tankers: Liquid goes straight into the customer's storage tanks. That means less extra handling, and the chance of pollution drops.

Custom Solutions: Packaging gets adjusted to match how each customer distributes the product and where they use it.

Packaging and Shipping

Manufacturing Process

Everything we make runs through one vertically integrated process. That is what keeps quality steady. For the neutralization reaction, we use high-purity acetic acid and pharmaceutical-grade potassium hydroxide. Inside the reactors, the temperature sits at an exact level.

When the reaction finishes, continuous centrifugal technology pulls out the tiny impurities. Vacuum concentration then brings the batch up to standard density. Machines do the weighing and blending of the corrosion inhibitor formula on their own. Calibration happens every week, so the dosage stays accurate.

Each finished batch passes through 0.2-micron precision filters. After that it goes into a climate chamber for stability testing. An official Certificate of Analysis ships with every batch. Records for raw materials and production are kept in full, so the whole trail can be traced.

FAQ

Q: How long does your this product keep?

A: A1: Sealed packaging lets the liquid product hold its performance for 24 months. The solid version has no fixed shelf life. Keep it dry, and keep moisture away.

Q: Will the product cause damage to surrounding vegetation?

A: A2: It features ultra-low phytotoxicity, with 90% less ecological damage than sodium chloride when used at the standard dosage of 50-150 g/m². Direct spraying on plant root zones during dormancy is not recommended.

Q: Is it allowed to mix with other deicing agents?

A: A3: Mixing with chloride deicers is not advised, as it will offset the anti-corrosion advantage of potassium acetate. It can be used with sand and other abrasives to improve road friction on steep slopes.

Q: What equipment is suitable for product application?

A: A4: Conventional liquid sprayers and granular spreaders are fully compatible. Due to its high melting efficiency, the spraying volume can be reduced by 30% compared with traditional rock salt.

Q: Is pre-wetting treatment required before use?

A: A5: For solid products, you first wet them with a 30% liquid solution. Skip that step and some material scatters and gets lost. Liquid products are different. You can spray them straight onto the surface, no pre-treatment needed.
